After dark

Nights under the first Dark Sky Island

With very little light pollution, Sark has exceptional night skies. On clear nights, the Milky Way can stretch overhead. In 2011, Sark became the world’s first Dark Sky Island.

Getting around

A small, car-free island

Sark has no cars and no through traffic, and guests stay together at the retreat house throughout the week. Mornings open with yoga, afternoons are yours to swim, walk or explore, and evenings bring the group back together for dinner.

For what it is like to travel here entirely alone, see our women travelling solo page.

In the water

Wild swimming

Sark is ringed by clear coves, tidal pools and beaches, with wild swims chosen around the day’s conditions.

Between swims there are cliff paths, wildflower lanes, and tidal walks. Read more about the island, or how the burnout retreat works here.

The practice

Yoga twice a day

Morning practice is gentle, evening practice is restorative, and both are mixed-level, so wherever you are with yoga, you are in the right place. Between sessions, the day is yours: swim, walk, read in the garden, or simply do nothing.

The company

A small group, one table

A small group, one long table, and food you did not have to plan or clear away. Most guests arrive on their own and leave with people they keep.

Yoga together, meals together, walks and swims, all hosted by Nadia.

Two more ways in: what happens when you travel alone, and the yoga itself.

Watching guests who arrived alone open up over five days, and leave with people they now call friends, is my favourite part of every retreat.
