How early should I arrive for the Sark ferry?

Plan to be at the departure point at least 30 minutes before your sailing. The ferry leaves on schedule, so build that time into any airport or harbour connection and follow any later instructions on your booking confirmation.

By sea, Brittany Ferries sails to Guernsey from Poole and Portsmouth. Crossing times and schedules vary, so check the operator when you book.

How long does it take to get to Sark?

The passenger ferry from Guernsey takes about 45 minutes. If you are arriving in Guernsey by air or sea first, the total journey depends mainly on how your connection lines up with the Sark sailing.

What happens to my luggage?

If you have time in Guernsey before the ferry, your bags can be left in Sark Shipping’s holding area and collected before departure. You bring your own luggage aboard the passenger ferry.

Once you reach Sark, Sark Shipping lifts the bags from the boat and they are delivered to wherever you are staying. You do not need to carry a suitcase up the steep hill from the harbour.

What happens when I arrive on Sark?

The toast rack carries passengers from Maseline Harbour up the steep hill. Retreat guests then continue by horse and carriage to the retreat.

Once you are settled, Sark is explored on foot, by bicycle or by horse-drawn carriage. See getting around without cars.

What if I miss the Sark ferry?

If your connection does not work, staying overnight in Guernsey and taking a later sailing is the practical alternative. Check the current Sark Shipping schedule before committing to connecting travel.
