The Sark JournalWhat does a restorative retreat feel like?
You know when yoga and meals happen, but most of the hours between are your own. On the five-night Sark Soul retreat, morning yoga comes first, breakfast follows, and the middle of the day and afternoon are free before evening practice and dinner.
Morning practice comes first
Morning yoga includes pranayama and meditation. Breakfast follows, vegetarian, cooked by a private chef and eaten together family style.
There is mobile signal and wifi on Sark. The practical difference is a morning without cars or a commute. You move from practice to breakfast without having to plan a journey or prepare the meal.
How you spend the afternoon
Guided walks and wild swimming are included during the week, but the open hours are yours. You can follow a coastal path, rest, read or spend time alone.
Full body massage, reiki and guided breathwork with cold immersion are available as add-ons. Massage was the guest favourite at the last retreat. These sessions can be reserved before you arrive, with some flexibility once you are on Sark.
Time with the group
Meals bring the small group together around one table, while the rest of the day stays yours if you want it. One guest from the May 2026 retreat described that balance directly:
“We felt supported as individuals, not just as part of the group.”

After sunset
On a clear night, the Milky Way is visible above the island after dark. Sark became the world’s first Dark Sky Island in January 2011.
On one night of the retreat, the group visits Sark Observatory, which is run by the Sark Astronomy Society.
