What happens on a Sark Soul retreat?

6 August 2026 · Sark Soul Island Retreats

A guest in a seated stretch during a morning practice on Sark

Sark Soul is built around a simple balance: enough structure to feel looked after, enough space to feel free.

Each retreat runs five nights, all inclusive: the room, all meals, twice daily yoga with pranayama and meditation, guided walks and swims, a night at the Sark Observatory, the carriage from the harbour, ferry coordination, and support from Nadia and the team for the whole week. A small number of add-ons sit outside that list, and those are covered further down.

The days that follow run to a steady, repeating pattern.

Morning movement

The day begins early with the first of two daily yoga sessions, paired with pranayama and meditation.

The practice is mixed level. You do not need to be flexible or experienced. Props, modifications and rest are always offered, and nobody is left behind.

Breakfast, then the day is yours

Breakfast follows the morning practice, the fixed point before the day opens up. After that, the middle of the day and the afternoon are yours.

Sark is small, car-free and surrounded by sea. Guided walks and wild swims are part of what the week includes, so you can take either without arranging anything extra, or simply follow the coast into one of the coves on your own. There is also room to do less: rest, read, sit outside, or take time alone.

Massage, reiki and breathwork

Three add-ons are available across the week: a full body massage, reiki, and guided breathwork with cold immersion. Massage was the guest favourite at the last retreat.

Add-ons are booked and arranged before you arrive. There is some flexibility once you are on Sark, but booking ahead is still the better way to be sure of your slot.

Cold immersion is guided, not something you are left to work out alone, and the sea does some of the work itself: guests who try it tend to come out calmer for hours afterwards.

One guest summed up what that individual attention adds to a week otherwise spent as a group:

“We felt supported as individuals, not just as part of the group.”

Evening practice and dinner

A second, quieter yoga session closes the day, before everyone sits down to dinner together.

Meals are vegetarian, cooked by a private chef, and eaten family style for the whole week. Dinner tends to run long, and it is where the day’s separate activities, the walk, the swim, the massage, come back together at one table.

“The food, and the chefs were fabulous. Everything was brilliantly organised. The location is stunning. Sark is such a beautiful place. I had the most wonderful time.”

A night at the Sark Observatory

One night each week is spent at the island’s Observatory, run by the Sark Astronomy Society. There is no street lighting anywhere, and Sark became the world’s first Dark Sky Island in 2011. On a clear night the Milky Way is visible overhead to the naked eye, a band of light across the sky rather than a faint smudge.

Guests tell us they sleep better here, and darkness is the likely reason. Light at night, even ordinary indoor light, suppresses melatonin, the hormone that tells the body it is time to sleep, and a week with almost none of it after dark tends to show, whatever month you visit.

Every activity is optional

The retreat has a pattern, but nothing on it is compulsory. Yoga, food, the add-ons, walking, wild swimming, company and solitude all support the same outcome: when you leave Sark Soul, you should feel more restored than when you arrived.
